CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team fell to #3 Chicago 5-2 on Friday evening at the Pauley Tennis Complex.
The Sagehens dropped all three doubles matches to Chicago to give the Maroons a 1-0 lead heading into singles.
Lauren Rha and
Leticia Bazua Vazquez fell at the No. 1 doubles 6-4 while
Mireille Chedid-Daley and
Annique Varty lost 6-2 at the No. 2 spot.
Tessa Ellingson and
Ishya Bhavsar ended doubles with a 6-3 loss.
In the singles competition, the Sagehens went on to win 2 of the six singles matches against Chicago. Rha earned a win at the No. 1 spot with a 6-2, 7-5 win and Chedid-Daley also earned a win at the No. 3 spot by the scores of 3-6, 6-2, 1-0.
Pomona-Pitzer went on to drop the final four sets as Bazua Vazquez fell 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 2 position while
Sofia Kalyva lost her match at the No. 4 singles spot 6-4, 6-3.
The Sagehens fell in the 5 and 6 spots as well as
Meha Chaudhary lost 6-1, 6-1 and Bhavsar fell 6-3, 6-2 to end the match against Chicago.
