Softball Mercy Rules SUNY Oneonta In Both Games

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Sagehens won both games in marcy-rule fashion against SUNY Oneonta with final score of a 10-2 in game one and 12-0 in game two.

Season Impact: With the wins, the Sagehens record is now to 7–13 overall and 1–2 in SCIAC play.

Game One
Sagehens 10, Oneonta 2
The Sagehens exploded offensively, scoring 10 runs on 12 hits. Kylie Liu led the way with a perfect 3-for-3 game with two home runs, driving in three RBIs and scoring three runs. Claire Sefkow and Audrey Reimers each added two hits, while Ava Bautista also contributed two hits and an RBI. Natalie Murguia and Yuri Song each drove in a run, and Sophia Roberts added an RBI as well. Audrey Reimers earned the win for the Sagehens, pitching a complete five innings while allowing four hits and two runs. She added one strikeout to secure the victory.

Oneonta jumped out to an early lead in the first inning, using back-to-back doubles and a sacrifice fly to take a 2–0 advantage. The Sagehens responded in the bottom half of the inning when Liu blasted a solo home run to cut the deficit to 2–1. The Sagehens took control in the second inning, capitalizing on defensive miscues. After Sefkow reached and Milton got on by an error, Sefkow stole home. Bautista followed with an RBI single, and Song added another to give the Sagehens a 4–2 lead. The Sagehens extended their lead in the third inning, taking advantage of two more errors to push the score to 6–2. In the fourth, Liu delivered again with her second home run of the game, a two-run shot, and Sefkow added an RBI single to stretch the lead to 9–2. Pomona-Pitzer tacked on one final run in the fifth inning on another Oneonta error, sealing a 10–2 victory.

Game Two
Sagehens 12, Oneonta 0
The Sagehens bats stayed hot scoring 12 runs on 11 hits. Yuri Song led the way with a 3-for-4 performance, scoring three runs and adding an RBI, while Sadie Huryn also went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBIs. Audrey Reimers delivered a big day at the plate with three RBIs, and Summer Gibson added two RBIs, including an extra-base hit. Natalie Murguia and Sophia Roberts each drove in a run, while Maya Grande reached base multiple times and scored two runs. Mia Lopez earned the win in the circle for the Sagehens with a dominant performance. She threw a complete-game shutout, allowing just four hits while striking out six and walking one over five innings.

The Sagehens struck first in the opening inning as Song singled and Huryn followed with an RBI double to give the Sagehens a 1–0 lead. The Sagehens added on in the second inning, capitalizing on defensive miscues. After Song delivered an RBI single, Huryn came through again with a two-RBI double to extend the lead to 4–0. Pomona-Pitzer broke the game open in the fourth inning with a dominant offensive surge. Murguia drove in a run with an RBI single before Reimers delivered a three-RBI double to center. Roberts added an RBI groundout, and Gibson capped the inning with a two-RBI double, pushing the advantage to 12–0.
