CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Sagehens women's tennis team earned a 5-2 victory over Amherst on Monday afternoon at home.

Season Impact: The win puts the Sagehens at 5-3 on the season.

The match began with a tightly contested doubles point. Pomona-Pitzer picked up a win at No. 1 doubles, where Lauren Rha and Leticia Bazua Vazquez battled to a 7-5 victory. Amherst responded with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 to take the doubles point and an early 1-0 lead.

The Sagehens answered in singles play, winning five of six courts to secure the team victory. Rha won at No. 1 singles with a 7-5, 6-3 win, while Mireille Chedid-Daley added a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 3. Meha Chaudhary delivered a clutch three-set performance at No. 4, rallying for a 4-6, 7-6, 7-5 win. Sofia Kalyva controlled her match at No. 5 with a 6-3, 6-1 decision, and Ishya Bhavsar got the victory at No. 6 with a 6-3, 6-4 win. Amherst earned its second point at No. 2 singles, but Pomona-Pitzer's depth across the lineup secured the 5-2 team result.
