REDLANDS, CA – The Pomona-Pitzer women's water polo team earned two wins on Sunday as they defeated Redlands 23-6 and Santa Clara 12-10.
Season Impact: With the two wins, the Sagehens continue their season 7-8 overall and 4-0 in SCIAC play.
Pomona-Pitzer 23, Redlands 6
The Sagehens were led by
Ava Gurney, who earned a four-goal haul by netting four for the win.
Natalie Sullivan Wu,
Sophia Berger,
Celia Young, and
Isabelle Nicole each earned a hattrick by scoring three goals throughout the game. Also contributing to the win,

Harper Casey-Housand,
Bella McGowan,

Emma Jackson each netted one.
Pomona-Pitzer started strong against
Redlands with 10 first half goals, scoring five in each period. McGowan started the scoring for the match by netting a goal with 6:21 left on the clock. The scoring then traded off between both sides. Berger and Sulivan Wu earned goals with 5:14 and 1:28 left on the clock, respectively. Lewis then followed with a goal from a penalty shot to bring the Sagehens ahead 4-2. Young managed to earn a last-minute goal with 0:05 left on the clock. Pomona-Pitzer established their lead early and finished the first period ahead 5-3. Young started the scoring in the second quarter with two back-to-back goals with 7:22 and 6:13 left on the clock. Sullivan Wu followed suit and dented the twine during a powerplay with 5:17 left on the clock. Kerber and Gurney then earned goals with 4:59 and 2:29 left on the clock. Despite
Redlands breaking through the Sagehen defenses, Pomona-Pitzer entered halftime with a widening 10-4 lead.
The Sagehens continued playing strong into the second half and secured thirteen more goals in the third and fourth quarters. Gurney started the scoring in the second half by netting a goal with 7:15 left on the clock. Casey-Housand and Rotsart followed by netting a goal with 6:01 and one during a powerplay with 5:12 left on the clock, respectively. Berger then obtained two back-to-back goals with 4:44 and 4:04 left on the clock, the
latter a penalty goal. Sullivan Wu, Archer, and Gurney each earned goals to further the Pomona-Pitzer campaign. The Sagehens entered their final quarter ahead of Redlands 18-5.
Pomona-Pitzer continued to further their heading through the end of the fourth quarter. Gurney started
the scoring in the period by earning a goal with 7:41 left on the clock. Jackson followed by netting a goal with 6:46 left on the clock. Nicole then secured three back-to-back goals with 6:16, 5:11, and 3:41 left on the clock to widen the score gap. The Sagehens defeated Redlands with a 23-6 victory.

The Sagehens were led by
Mia Amberger and
Lisbon Zeigler, who each earned a hattrick by netting three goals for the win. Also contributing to the win,
Paityn Richardson scored two, and
Natalie Sullivan Wu,
Katie Hugar,
Sara Archer, and
Celia Young each earned one goal.
Pomona-Pitzer put up a good effort in the first half and earned six goals in the first and second quarters.
Zeigler started the scoring for the match and secured three back-to-back goals with 5:29, 3:58, and 3:09 left on the clock. While the Broncos managed to breach the Sagehen defenses, Pomona-Pitzer ended the first quarter ahead of Santa Clara 3-2. Richardson started
the scoring in the second period with two back-to-back goals with 5:39 and 4:47 left on the clock. Hugar followed and earned a last-minute goal from a penalty shot with 0:26 left on the clock, bringing the Sagehens ahead of Santa Clara 6-3 as the game entered halftime.
Amberger started the scoring in the second half by netting a goal with 7:04 left on the clock. While the Broncos continued breaking through the Pomona-Pitzer defenses to catch up, Sullivan Wu and Young earned a goal with 4:00 and one during a powerplay with 3:08 left on the clock. Amidst the Santa Clara siege, Amberger scored a goal with 0:47 left on the clock. Pomona-Pitzer kept their lead and entered the final period ahead 10-7.
Santa Clara struck first in the fourth quarter, but Archer replied by scoring a goal with 6:33 left on the clock. While the scoring traded between both teams, Amberger added another mark to the scoresheet by securing a goal with 3:47 left on the clock. Despite the efforts from the Broncos, the Sagehens came out on top and secured their 12-10 victory over Santa Clara, their second win for the day.
