CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer men's basketball fell 65-52 to Chapman Saturday afternoon at Voelkel Gymnasium.
Season Impact: The result puts the Sagehens at 9-11 on the season, including 5-7 in SCIAC play.
Charlie Hutchison led the team offensively with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while
Kyle Jasper followed with 11 points and five boards.
Sam Lind scored nine while
Charlie Treene had eight points and eight rebounds.
Lind and
Bryson Bryker scored driving layups midway through the first half to put the Sagehens up a point, 14-13. A basket from
Cooper Bladow in the paint later tied things up at 19. Chapman finished the half strong, though, leading 30-21 at the break.
Treene knocked down a three early in the second half, as Pomona-Pitzer trailed 35-27. The Panthers later pushed their lead to 19, 52-33, before Lind scored down low. A Jasper triple brought the Sagehens within 15, 55-40, with 6:37 to go, before Lind hit a three of his own.
Pomona-Pitzer fought back within nine, 59-50, with under a minute remaining. But that was as close as the Sagehens would get, ultimately falling 65-52 to Chapman.
