WHITTIER, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer men's basketball fell 98-84 at Whittier Wednesday night.
Season Impact: The result drops the Sagehens to 9-12 on the season, including 5-8 in SCIAC play.
Charlie Hutchison paced the team on offense with 16 points and seven rebounds, while
Matthew Diekmann scored 14.
Kyle Jasper had 12 points and nine assists while
Sam Lind posted 11 points and four rebounds. As a team, the Sagehens shot 50% from the floor, including 45.8% from three.
The Sagehens got out to an early 8-5 lead after Lind knocked down a three. But Whittier fought back to take a 24-15 lead midway through the half. A Diekmann layup and a pair of free throws from Hutchison later brought Pomona-Pitzer within three, 30-27. Lind hit another triple to bring the Sagehens within a point, 39-38, at halftime.
Charlie Treene hit a three and Diekmann scored in the paint to give Pomona-Pitzer an early 43-39 lead in the second half. Whittier, though, responded and took a 59-51 lead before Jasper hit a trey. The Poets maintained control, leading by as many as 19 down the stretch.

Darius Turner scored in the paint in the final minute, but Whittier came away with the 98-84 win.
