Women's Basketball Rolls Past Oxy; Jadyn Lee Drops 26

Los Angeles, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer women's basketball defeated Occidental 87-67 on the road. 

Season Impact: The win puts the Sagehens at 12-7 on the season, including 7-3 in SCIAC play.

Jadyn Lee led the Sagehens with a season-high 26 points on an efficient 10-of-14 shooting performance, adding five assists and six rebounds. Kayla Malek followed with 13 points while knocking down both of her attempts from beyond the arc, and Abigail Homan chipped in eight points to go along with a team-high seven rebounds. Sara Chicco and Emily Lee each scored eight points, while Avery Patricco provided a strong spark off the bench with seven points, two assists, and a block.

The Sagehens jumped out to an early lead behind J. Lee, who scored seven points in the opening quarter as they closed on an 8–2 run to go up 13–6 midway through the period. Chicco added key contributions on both ends, including a fastbreak jumper and an early block to anchor the defense, while Patricco and Kellie Au provided timely buckets off the bench. The Sagehens carried a 15–10 advantage into the second quarter after forcing multiple turnovers. The Sagehenes continued to lean on J. Lee in the second quarter, as she scored eight points in the frame. Shea Joko provided a spark from deep, knocking down a pair of threes, while Patricco added a layup and a block to steady the momentum during a back-and-forth stretch. Despite multiple lead changes and Occidental closing late, the Sagehens held a slim 41–40 advantage at halftime.

The Sagehens took control in the third quarter with a strong two-way effort, opening the half on an 11–0 run highlighted by buckets from Homan, Chicco, and E. Lee to build separation. Homan anchored the defense with steals and rebounds as the Sagehens pushed the lead to as many as 15. The quarter ended with Pomona-Pitzer firmly in command, carrying a 64–49 advantage into the fourth. The Sagehens closed out the game with composure in the fourth quarter, extending the lead behind timely perimeter shooting from Malek and Au while continuing to generate points off turnovers. The Sagehens stayed aggressive defensively, highlighted by steals and blocks from Homan and Sofia Robel. The Sagehens pulled away for an 87–67 victory.
