CLAREMONT, CA. – The Sagehens earned a dominant 5-1 victory over Whittier on Saturday afternoon, improving to 7-1-1 on the season and 4-0-1 in SCIAC play. Pomona-Pitzer finished the match with 31 shots

Pomona-Pitzer came out attacking from the opening whistle, creating several chances in the first 10 minutes. The Sagehens broke through in the 10th minute when Brooke Bailey found the back of the net, with Anya Offenbacher-Jones providing the assist to give Pomona-Pitzer an early 1-0 lead. The Sagehens continued to pressure, and Vivian Rojas Collins doubled the lead in the 16th minute, scoring her first goal of the season. Brooke then scored her second goal of the afternoon in the 21st minute, assisted by Ava Watanabe, to put Pomona-Pitzer ahead 3-0. Pomona-Pitzer added two more goals before halftime. Watanabe scored in the 32nd minute, assisted by Adriana Torres, before Torres found the back of the net herself in the 41st minute with an assist from Lilah Pruner. The Sagehens carried a 5-0 lead into halftime.
Patricia DePalma started in goal for the Sagehens in the first half before McKenna Tingley took over in the second half. Whittier got on the board and scored in the 66th minute, but Tingley and the Sagehens' defense kept the Poets from adding another goal. Pomona-Pitzer continued to create chances throughout the final 45 minutes. The Sagehens held on for the 5-1 victory, earning their fourth SCIAC win of the season.
