Sagehens Fall To Redlands 58-71

CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer women's basketball fell 71-58 to Redlands Saturday afternoon at Voelkel Gymnasium.

Season Impact: The loss puts the Sagehens at 6-6 on the season, including 1-2 in SCIAC play.

Abigail Homan led the Sagehens with 12 points and six rebounds. Jadyn Lee added ten points, two steals, and one block while Avery Patricco had nine points going 4-8 from the field.

The Sagehens struggled to find an offensive rhythm early, falling behind 6–0 before Emily Lee got the Sagehens on the board with a jumper in the paint. Despite paint buckets from Molly Pieper, J. Lee, and E. Lee, Redlands capitalized on turnovers and fast-break opportunities to take a 21–12 lead into the end of the first quarter.

In the second, the Sagehens forced multiple turnovers that led to fast-break baskets from Homan, Patricco, and J. Lee, trimming the deficit to single digits midway through the period. The Sagehens closed the half on a strong run, outscoring the Bulldogs 18-14 points in the quarter and cutting Redlands' lead to 35–30 at halftime after back-to-back transition layups by Homan and E. Lee in the final minute.

The Sagehens tied the game midway through the third quarter when Homan scored in the paint, then took its first lead moments later behind Kayla Malek's layup and free throw with five minutes left in the quarter. Teams traded baskets and the Sagehens went into the fourth trailing 50–47.

Pomona-Pitzer kept pace early in the fourth but Redlands gradually stretched the lead behind consistent paint scoring. The Sagehens fell 58-71.
