CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer men's basketball fell 73-63 at CMS Saturday evening.

Season Impact: The result puts the Sagehens at 7-10 on the season, including 3-6 in SCIAC play.

Kyle Jasper led the team with 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting, with all six of his makes coming from beyond the arc. Charlie Treene added 14 points and four rebounds while Matthew Diekmann scored 13.

CMS got out to a nine-point lead midway through the first half before a Diekmann triple made it 22-16. Jasper knocked down a three-pointer of his own before the end of the period, as the Sagehens trailed 39-34 at the break.

The Stags pushed their lead to 11, 47-36, three minutes into the second half before Treene hit a three and Diekmann scored in the paint. Treene hit another trey and Connor Fitzgerald scored a fast break layup to then cut Pomona-Pitzer's deficit to two, 49-47, with 13:35 left in the game. But CMS scored the next eight to go back up 10, 57-47.

Treene scored in the paint to bring the Sagehens within five, 59-54, with under five minutes to go but that was as close as they would get. Sam Lind scored a lay-in with 24 seconds remaining but CMS came away with the 73-63 victory.
