Sagehens Complete The Comeback, Defeat Willamette 3-2

SALEM, OR. – The Sagehens rallied from a two-goal deficit to earn a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Willamette on Friday afternoon.

Season Impact: With the win, Pomona-Pitzer improves to 3-0-0 on the year.

Willamette opened the scoring just two minutes into the match and doubled their advantage in the 63rd minute, but the Sagehens never let down and responded with three  goals in the final 20 minutes of the match. The Sagehens began to build momentum midway through the first half, generating looks from Jack Yang and Aidan MacLennan, but the Sagehens went into halftime trailing 1-0. The comeback started in the 74th minute when Enzo Dal Bo buried a finish off a setup from Kaili Shoop to cut the deficit to 2-1. Just four minutes later, the Sagehens equalized after MacLennan converted a penalty kick drawn in the 78th minute to level the match at 2-2. The decisive moment came in the 83rd minute, when defender Niclas Ulrich scored the game-winner off an assist from Guy Fuchs, completing the Sagehens' comeback on the road. It was a physical match throughout, with multiple fouls and cards issued on both sides, but the Sagehens showed composure down the stretch to secure the 3-2 victory.
