CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer women's volleyball fell in four sets (24-26, 13-25, 25-16, 19-25) to Redlands Tuesday night at Voelkel Gymnasium.
Season Impact: The loss drops the Sagehens to 6-7 on the season, including 1-2 in SCIAC play.
Paige Mountanos paced the Sagehens offensively with 15 kills to go with five blocks and four digs.
Natalie Potter added nine kills and four blocks while
Tene Ariyo had seven kills and five digs.
Corrina Benson posted 16 digs and
Mackenzie Bravo Woo had 13.
The Sagehens used a 6-0 run capped by an
Anna Krebs kill to take a 22-20 advantage late in set one. A Mountanos kill then pushed it to set point, 24-23. But Redlands scored the next three to take the first set, 26-24. The Bulldogs then cruised in set two, taking it 25-13 and a 2-0 match lead.
Pomona-Pitzer flipped the script in the third set, scoring the final six points to take it 25-16. Benson sealed the set win with a service ace. But the Bulldogs went on to prevail in the fourth, despite a late kill from
Ella Mesard, taking the set 25-19 and winning the match, 3-1.
