CLAREMONT, CA – Pomona-Pitzer secured a 6–0 shutout victory in their game against Caltech on Saturday afternoon.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens continue their season 7-0-1 overall and 3-0-1 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens worked hard as they created several opportunities to score and found an early lead. Midfielder Sabina Peterson Rajalingam secured the first goal of the game at the 11' minute mark and set Pomona-Pitzer leading 1-0. Forward Hannah Hong followed suit and then scored another goal at the 12' minute mark. The Sagehens continued the momentum when Imogen Roy Jenkyn broke through the Caltech defenses and scored a third goal at the 23' minute mark that widened the Sagehen lead to 3-0. The Sagehen defense also stayed strong as they did not let Caltech have a single shot attempt. Thanks to the strong effort on all fronts, the Sagehens went into halftime with a striking lead of 3-0. The Sagehens maintained their energy in the second half. Forward Hannah Hong scored two back-to-back goals at the 80' and 82' minute marks and furthered the Sagehen lead. Defender Vivian Rojas Collins soon followed Hong and netted another goal off of a free kick at the 83' minute mark which set the Sagehen lead to 6-0. The Sagehens ended the match with a 6-0 victory taking a total of 28 shots on goal while not letting the Beavers have a single attempt.
