Sagehens Tie With Whittier

WHITTIER, CA – Pomona-Pitzer tied and ended with a scoreless draw 0-0 in their game against Whittier on Saturday afternoon.

Season Impact: With the tie, the Sagehens continue their season 7-0-2 overall and 3-0-2 in SCIAC play.

Pomona-Pitzer put up a competitive effort in the first half. The Sagehens worked hard as they created several opportunities to score, but they failed to hit their mark. Forward Imogen Roy Jenkyn attempted to break through the Poets defense early with a shot at the 15' minute mark which went wide. Forward Hannah Hong followed and tried to score at the 27' and 30' minute marks, but the opposing goalie stopped her shots. Pomona-Pitzer continued to bring the energy with multiple attempts at the goal each from forward Anjali Nuggehalli and midfielder Ava Watanabe. However, each of their attempts were stopped by the Whittier defenses. The Pomona-Pitzer defenses also started strong as they did not permit Whittier to create any opportunities to shoot on the goal. The Sagehens entered halftime of the competitive match in a stalemate 0-0.

The Sagehens maintained their energy through the second half. They continued to create several opportunities to score, but they still did not hit their mark. Kendrick Dahlin and Brooke Bailey each shot on the goal at the 46' minute mark but both attempts were stopped by the opposing goalie. The Pomona-Pitzer defenses also stood strong as goalkeeper Patricia DePalma saved a shot from Whittier at the 58' minute mark. Ingrid Nelson also attempted to break through the Poets defenses at the 66' minute mark and her shot was saved by the Whittier defenses. The Sagehens played well throughout the rest of the game and did not allow the Poets to gain an edge. Despite the efforts from all sides, the match concluded in a scoreless draw, 0-0.
