Kreutzkamp Secures Five Goals in 20-11 Win Against La Verne

LA VERNE, CA – The Pomona-Pitzer men's water polo team defeated La Verne 20-11 Saturday at Las Flores Pool.

Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improved their season record to 6-6 overall and 2-0 in SCIAC play.

The Sagehens were led by Ryan Kreutzkamp who netted five goals in the win. Darragh Flanders and Jaden Winters each also secured a four-goal haul. Indigo Lee and Conrad Hugar each scored two goals with Jake Lee, Max Distaso, and Zach Whitfield each netting one.

Pomona-Pitzer started strong against the Leopards with 10 first half goals, scoring three in the first and seven in the second quarter. La Verne struck first, but Flanders tried to catch the Sagehens up by scoring a goal with 3:25 left on the clock. Pomona-Pitzer secured two more goals from Kreutzkamp and Lee and finished the first period trailing La Verne 3-4. In the second period the Sagehens gained an edge and persisted to break through the Leopards defense. Hugar, Disanto, Kreutzkamp, and Whitfield each scored goals and Winters secured two penalty shot goals and netted one more to put the Sagehens ahead. The Sagehens turned the tide and entered halftime ahead 10-6.

The Sagehens continued the momentum through the second half and secured ten goals in the third and fourth quarters. Pomona-Pitzer maintained its lead with Hugar, Winters, Flanders and Kreutzkamp scoring six goals throughout the third period. Notably, Kreutzkamp netted two back-to-back goals with 0:34 and 0:14 left on the clock. The period finished with Pomona-Pitzer ahead 16-9.

The Sagehens continued to bring a competitive energy into the fourth period with four more goals. Flanders and Kreutzkamp each scored a goal with Lee netting two. Pomona-Pitzer finished the game defeating La Verne 20-11.
