LEXINGTON, Ky. — Pomona-Pitzer women's volleyball fell 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-18) at Transylvania Saturday to close its three-game road trip in Kentucky.
Season Impact: The loss puts the Sagehens at 5-5 on the season.
Paige Mountanos paced Pomona-Pitzer offensively with 11 kills on a .348 clip, while
Tene Ariyo added six kills and two digs.
Corrina Benson posted a team-best 10 digs to anchor the Sagehen defense.
Pomona-Pitzer hung around through much of the first set, with an Ariyo kill making it 18-18. Ariyo added another kill late but the Pioneers came away with the first set, 25-19. After the Sagehens took a 6-3 lead in the second, Transylvania scored 12 unanswered to go up 14-6, eventually taking the set 25-17.
Charlotte Sekerka posted a kill in set three to put Pomona-Pitzer up 9-5 before adding another to put the team up 10-6. But the Pioneers again used a 12-0 run to take command of set three, ultimately taking it 25-18 and winning the match, 3-0.
