CLAREMONT, CA. – The Sagehens earned a 1-0 shutout victory over Park University on Sunday afternoon at home.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improve to 2-0-0 to start the season.
The Sagehens controlled the tempo in the first half, creating several looks at goal while staying organized defensively. Goalkeeper Jasper Broad set the tone early with key saves in the 4' and 14' minutes. The breakthrough came in the 37' minute when defender Niclas Ulrich scored off an assist from Colin Eugster, giving the Sagehens a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
In the second half, the Sagehens continued to generate offensive pressure. Jack Yang tested the keeper with a shot in the 52' minute, followed by another strong chance from Aidan MacLennan in the 54'. Despite playing down a man late in the match, the Hens held firm. Second half goalkeeper Will Brooks came up big in the final stretch, recording multiple saves in the 82' and 86' minutes to secure the clean sheet.
It was a physical match with nine yellow cards and one red card being handed out. Pomona-Pitzer ended the match with a 1-0 victory, their second consecutive win to open the season.
