CLAREMONT, CA –The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team defeated the Athenas in a tight battle 4-3 on Sunday to close out the regular season. With the win, the Sagehens are the 2025 Regular Season SCIAC Champions.

The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team earned a thrilling 4-3 upset victory over No. 3 CMS on Sunday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex. The Sagehens jumped out to an early lead by sweeping all three doubles matches and then held strong in singles to secure the win.
The Sagehens dominated doubles play, with Angie Zhou and Marissa Markey taking No. 1 doubles 6-4, Amelia Poor and Nyakiriri Kanefu blanking their opponents 6-0 at No. 2, and Leticia Bazua Vazquez and Lauren Rha finishing off the sweep with a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles, Angie Zhou clinched the win and battled back at No. 1 singles after dropping the first set to clinch a 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 victory. Marissa Markey added another critical point with a tight 7-5, 7-6 (7-5) win at No. 3 singles, while Leticia Bazua Vazquez went on to win 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles.
Up Next: The Sagehens will compete in and host the SCIAC Tournament from May 2nd - May 4th.
