THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Despite holding a 6-0 lead, Pomona-Pitzer baseball fell 9-8 in walkoff fashion to Cal Lutheran on the road Saturday afternoon.
Season Impact: The loss drops the Sagehens to 22-12 on the season, including 11-8 in SCIAC play.
JC Ng led Pomona-Pitzer offensively with two RBI while
Lateef Wakil,
Cooper Berry,
Jack Gold and
Sammy Lee each had one.
Ethan Collins struck out two after going 6.1 innings while
Eli Della Bitta was credited with the loss from the mound.
The Sagehens jumped out to a 6-0 advantage after a six-run second inning. Lee got the scoring started with an RBI single up the middle, before an error allowed
Xavier Hattenburg to score. Wakil, Ng, Gold and Berry each tallied RBI before the inning was over, giving the Sagehens a 6-0 lead.
The Kingsmen responded with four runs in the third before an error allowed Lee to score in the sixth. Cal Lutheran put another run on the board in the seventh, making it 7-5 Pomona-Pitzer. Ng secured his second RBI of the game in the eighth inning, as the Sagehens led 8-5 heading into the bottom of the ninth.
But the Kingsmen loaded the bases with no outs in the final frame, eventually scoring four to take the 9-8 walkoff win.
