LOS ANGELES, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Lacrosse team clinched their fourth-straight SCIAC Regular Season Championship with their 21-6 win over Occidental on Wednesday night at Patterson Field.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improved to 14-2 overall and 11-0 in SCIAC play and clinched the No. 1 seed in the upcoming SCIAC Postseason Tournament.
The Sagehens were led by
Sydney Landauer who led all scorers with six goals in the win.
Fiona Lewis,
Shoshi Henderson, and
Caili Cross had hat-tricks as well with three while
Taylor Glanville and
Hannah Gough had two and
Chloe Denhart,
Grace Tighe, and
Madelyn Katz had one.
The Sagehens started with their highest scoring quarter of the night with seven goals to jump out to a big lead. Gough started the scoring for the Sagehens, but an Oxy goal tied the game at 1-1 early in the first. The Sagehens sparked a 5-0 run with goals from Cross, Landauer, and Lewis while Cross netted another just before the end of the first quarter to take a 7-2 lead after one quarter of play.
Landauer added two more early in the second but Oxy responded with two of their own to keep it at a 5-goal game at 9-4. The Sagehens ended the first half with three unanswered goals from Henderson, Lewis and Landauer to take a 12-4 lead into halftime.
Pomona-Pitzer continued to build its lead from Denhart, Katz, Henderson, and Tighe in the third while goals from Henderson, Landauer and Glanville ended the night for the Sagehens as they celebrated their fourth consecutive regular season championship.
