THOUSAND OAKS, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Water Polo team clinched the Regular Season SCIAC Championship with their 19-3 win over Cal Lutheran on Saturday morning at the Samuelson Aquatics Center.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improved to 21-10 overall and finish the regular season perfect in SCIAC play for their sixth-straight SCIAC Regular Season Championship.
The Sagehens were led by
Kaylee Stigar and
Paityn Richardson who netted a game-high four goals in the win while
Brienz Lang also had a hat-trick with three.
Mia Amberger had two while
Sydney Bianchi,
Ayva Magna,
Gabby Lewis, Diana Hatter, Belle McGowan, and
Ava Gurney had one.
A strong start for the Sagehens looking to seal their SCIAC regular season title against the Regals with six goals in the opening quarter. Stigar and Amberger got the Sagehens up 3-0 to start while Richardson, Lang and McGowan found the back of the net to go up 6-1 heading into the second quarter.
Amberger, Lang, Magna, and Lewis got on the board in the second with the Sagehen defense shutting out the Regals to hold a 10-1 lead at halftime.
Pomona-Pitzer continued to build its lead over Cal Lutheran with nine second half goals. Stigar, Lang, Richardson, Bianchi, Hatter and Gurney all scored second half goals as the Sagehens continued their dominance in the SCIAC Regular Season to lock up the No. 1 Seed in the upcoming SCIAC Tournament.
