CLAREMONT, CA – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team celebrated senior night and defeated Chapman with a score of 6-1 Tuesday afternoon at home.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens are 7-7 overall and 2-0 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens women's tennis team secured a dominant 6-1 victory over Chapman, winning five of six singles matches and claiming the doubles point.
The Sagehens set the tone in doubles, taking two out of three matches to secure the first point. Amelia Poor and Nyakiriri Kanefu controlled their No. 1 matchup with a 6-2 win, while Lauren Rha and Meha Chaudhary dominated at No. 2, winning 6-1. The Sagehens carried their momentum into singles, winning five of six matches. Kanefu led the way at No. 1, overcoming a tough second set to win 6-1, 7-5. Marissa Markey (No. 2), Poor (No. 3), Chaudhary (No. 4), and Sofia Kalyva (No. 6) all delivered straight-set wins. Chapman's lone point came at No. 5 singles.
The Sagehens got the victory and honored their Seniors Amelia Poor, Marissa Markey, and Angie Zhou!
