CLAREMONT, CA. – The No. 10 Pomona-Pitzer Lacrosse team moved to 6-0 after their 21-3 win over Occidental on Friday night at Merritt Field.
The Sagehens had three players earn hat-tricks in the win.
Sydney Landauer led the team with four goals while
Maria Favret and
Caili Cross had three.
Hannah Gough,
Fiona Lewis,
Joella Linder had two goals each while
Grace Tighe,
Zaina Sayeed,
Madelyn Katz,
Shoshi Henderson, and
River Buechner had one.
The Sagehens started out hot on offense with 11 goals in the first quarter. Pomona-Pitzer started with eight-straight goals against the Tigers with Henderson, Landauer, Lewis, Gough and Cross getting on the score sheet before Occidental scored its first to make it 8-1. The Sagehens ended with goals from Gough, Lewis and Buechner to end the first quarter with a commanding 11-1 lead.
Pomona-Pitzer still managed to keep the offense going in the second as Cross and Linder extended the lead to 13-1 before the Tigers earned their second goal of the game. The Sagehens ended the first half with goals from Cross, Katz, and Tighe to hold a 16-2 lead at halftime.
After taking a big first half lead, the Sagehens only put one more goal on the board in the third quarter from Favret while Favret, Linder and Sayeed scored to end the fourth to give the Sagehens their sixth win in as many contests this season.
