ORANGE, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Lacrosse team improved to 7-0 with their 17-9 win over Chapman on Wednesday night at Wilson Field.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens stay undefeated on the year at 7-0 and 6-0 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens were led by
Sydney Landauer who netted a game-high six goals in the win.
Fiona Lewis also netted a hat-trick with four goals while
Shoshi Henderson,
Taylor Glanville, and
River Buechner had two and
Hannah Gough had one.
Landauer got her scoring going early with the first goal of the game to take a 1-0 lead, but Chapman responded with their first goal to tie the game at 1-1. Buechner and Lewis got the lead up to 4-1 but the Panthers came back with the final two goals of the first quarter with the Sagehens up 4-3 at the end of the first.
Pomona-Pitzer started the build up their lead as Landauer, Glanville and Lewis got the lead up to 8-3 with 3:24 left until halftime. Neither team could add any more goals for the remainder of the half with the Sagehens up 8-3 at the break.
The Sagehens added two more goals to get the lead up to 10-3 in the third with Chapman responding with back-to-back goals, but Landauer netted another just before the end of the third to extend the lead to 11-5 entering the fourth quarter.
The Panthers made it a game in the fourth as they got the deficit down to just three goals at 11-8 with over 10 minutes to play. The Sagehens responded with two goals from Landauer and then one from Buechner and Henderson to taker a 15-8 lead with 6:12 to play.
After putting the game to bed, the Sagehens added two more from Gough and Glanville to leave Chapman with a 17-9 win.
