REDLANDS, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Water Polo team defeated SCIAC opponent Redlands 14-5 on the road at the Thompson Aquatics Center.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improved to 14-10 overall and remain undefeated at 7-0 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens were led by
Paityn Richardson who netted four goals in the win. Diana Hatter, Syndey Bianchi, and
Brienz Lang all had two goals while
Lisbon Zeigler, Harper Casey Housand,
Layla Szymczak, and
Sara Archer had one.
A good first half for the Sagehens got them out to a big lead over the Bulldogs outscoring Redlands 9-2 in the first half. Pomona-Pitzer opened the scoring with the first four goals of the game from Richardson, Lang, and Ziegler to take a 4-0 lead before Redlands came back with two-straight goals to cut the lead in half at 4-2. The Sagehens ended the first with a goal from Archer and then scored four unanswered in the second quarter from Hatter, Lang, Szymczak and Richardson to take a 9-2 lead into halftime.
Redlands matched the Sagehens with three goals in the third while Bianchi and Richardson combined for three goals and then Hatter and Casey-Housand netted fourth quarter goals to keep the Sagehens unbeaten SCIAC streak alive against Redlands.
