CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Lacrosse team fell to Williams College 16-6 on Wednesday night at Merritt Field.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 9-2 overall.
The Sagehens had six players with one goal as
Gwynn Sullivan,
Hannah Gough,
Fiona Lewis,
Grace Tighe,
Caili Cross and Ricer Buechner all had one goal in the loss.
Williams opened the game with a goal followed by a response from Lewis to make it 1-1 early in the first. The Ephs took over after that in the first with five goals to end the opening quarter to take a big 6-1 lead heading into the second.
The Sagehens came back and battled in the second after Williams took a 9-1 lead. The Sagehens ended the first half with three of the final four goals from Gough, Buechner, and Sullivan to trail 10-4 heading into halftime.
Neither team had much offense in the third with both teams scoring one goal each. Cross scored a goal for the Sagehens to end the third as the Sagehens still trailed by six goals at 11-5 heading into the fourth.
Tighe netted the only goal of the fourth for Pomona-Pitzer as Williams handed the Sagehens their second consecutive loss of the season.
