Sagehens End Convergence 3-1 With Win Over Mount St. Mary's

CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Water Polo team finished Convergence with a 3-1 record after falling to USC 20-7 and ended with a 10-4 win over Mount St. Mary's on Saturday afternoon at Haldeman Pool.

The Sagehens were led by Mia Amberger who scored a team-high four goals in the loss. Kaylee Stigar, Paityn Richardson and Layla Szymczak each had one as well in the win.
The Sagehens started day two with a game against one of the top ranked teams in Division I with the University of Southern California Trojans.  USC started strong over Pomona-Pitzer with the first 7 goals of the game before Paityn Richardson netted a goal in the first quarter. 
 
The Trojans went on to shut out Pomona-Pitzer in the second quarter with a 15-1 halftime lead, but the Sagehens actually outscored USC in the second half with six goals to the Trojans' five.
 
Amberger and Stigar got on the board in the third with Amberger, and Szymczak scoring goals in the fourth as the Sagehens fell to USC.

The Sagehens were led by Sydney Bianchi and Brienz Lang who each netted two goals in the win. Natalie Sullivan Wu, Kaylee Stigar, Lisbon Zeigler, Amberger, Gabby Lewis and Szymczak had one goal each.
 
The Sagehens got out to a lead after Lewis opened the first quarter with a goal before Mount St. Mary's responded with two more to take a 2-1 lead.  Bianchi and Lang came back with goals in the second as the Sagehens took a 4-3 lead into halftime.
 
After a close game in the first half, the Sagehens pulled away in the third as Stigar and Bianchi got the lead up to two goals heading into the fourth and then five unanswered goals to end the game from Amberger, Zeigler, Szymczak, and Sullivan Wu to end the 2025 Claremont Convergence with a win.
 
Up Next: The Sagehens will next head to Caltech on March 8th at 11:00 a.m.
