Sagehens Open Colorado Trip With 14-4 Win Over New Paltz

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO. -- The No .9 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Lacrosse team opened their Colorado trip with a 14-4 win over New Paltz on Wednesday afternoon at Washburn Field.

Season Impact: with the win, the Sagehens improved to 9-0 to start the year to match their best start in program history.

The Sagehens were led by Fiona Lewis who netted her sixth hat-trick of the season with five goals in the win. Maria Favret and Sydney Landauer also netted multi-goal games with two each while Hannah Gough, Taylor Glanville, Madelyn Katz, Grace Tighe and Caili Cross had one.

New Paltz started out with a 1-0 lead after a goal inside the first three minutes of the first quarter.  That was the only goal for New Paltz in the first as the Sagehens ended the quarter with three-straight goals from Lewis, Gough and Favret to take a 3-1 lead into the second.

Lewis and Landauer dominated the second quarter for Pomona-Pitzer as Lewis netted three goals and Landauer earning her two before halftime as the Sagehens went into the break up 8-2.

Pomona-Pitzer continued to add more goals in the third while the defense stood strong limiting New Paltz to very little scoring opportunities. Lewis, Cross, and Glanville extended the lead to 11-2 before New Paltz broke the score streak, but Favret and Tighe netted goals to put the Sagehens up 10 at 13-3 heading into the fourth.

With the game already secured, the Sagehens added one more goal by Katz in the fourth quarter and came away with a 10-goal win to open their Colorado road trip.
