CLAREMONT, CA – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team secured a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Middlebury on Tuesday at the Pauley Tennis Complex. After dropping all three doubles matches, the Sagehens stormed back in singles play to clinch the win.
Middlebury dominated doubles, sweeping all three matches to claim the first point of the day. At No. 1 doubles, Angie Zhou and Marissa Markey fell 7-6 (7-2). No. 2 doubles lost 6-4, and No. 3 doubles lost 6-3. Despite the early deficit, the Sagehens responded with a dominant singles performance, winning four of the six matches. Angie Zhou led the charge at No. 1 singles winning 6-7, 6-2, 6-2. Lauren Rha battled back at No. 2 singles, winning 2-6, 6-0, 6-1. Marissa Markey controlled her match at No. 4 singles, winning 6-4, 6-2, and Meha Chaudhary clinched the match at No. 5 singles with the scores of 7-6, 6-1.
