San Diego, CA– The Pomona-Pitzer women's tennis team fell to No. 16-ranked Point in a 4-1 decision at the PLNU Tennis Courts.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens fall to 3-7 on the year.
Doubles Highlights
The Sagehens started strong in doubles play, securing wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions to claim the doubles point.
Angie Zhou and
Marissa Markey dominated with a 6-2 win at the No. 1 position while
Amelia Poor and
Nyakiriri Kanefu delivered a commanding 6-1 victory at No. 2.
Leticia Bazua Vazquez and
Lauren Rha were locked in a tight match at 4-4 before play was halted due to the doubles decision for the Sagehens.
Singles Recap
Despite their momentum from doubles, the Sagehens faced tough battles in singles play, with Point Loma winning four straight matches to clinch the overall victory.
- No. 1 Singles: Angie Zhou fell in straight sets, 5-7, 0-6, to Arianna Audelo.
- No. 3 Singles: Nyakiriri Kanefu was defeated 1-6, 3-6, by Antonia Barth.
- No. 4 Singles: Meha Chaudhary fell, 0-6, 6-7, against Quin Brady.
- No. 6 Singles: Annique Varty fell 4-6, 4-6, to Anna Pallencaoe, sealing the win for the Sea Lions.
The remaining two matches—No. 2 (
Marissa Markey) and No. 5 (
