ORANGE, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Water Polo team improved to 4-0 in SCIAC play with their 15-7 win over SCIAC opponent Chapman on Saturday morning at the Allred Aquatics Center.
Season Impact: with the win, the Sagehens improved to 9-7 overall and remain unbeaten at 4-0 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens were led by
Lisbon Zeigler and
Lulu Gaither who each netted a hat-trick in the win with three goals.
Natalie Sullivan Wu and
Brienz Lang had two goals while
Kaylee Stigar, Diana Hatter,
Mia Amberger,
Bella McGowan, and
Sara Archer had one.
A solid defensive performance for the Sagehens in the first half after they shut out the Panthers heading into halftime. Gaither got the scoring going in the first followed by goals from Zeigler and Sullivan Wu to take a 3-0 lead after the first eight minutes.
The Sagehens matched their first quarter total with three more goals in the second from Lang, Gaither and Zeigler to take a 6-0 lead into halftime.
Amberger and Zeigler got the lead up to 8-0 before Chapman score their first goal of the game, but five goals from the Sagehens in the third made it 11-3 heading into the fourth.
The Panthers matched the Sagehens in the fourth quarter with four goals, but the big first half lead from the Sagehens allowed them to coast in the second half for their fourth SCIAC win of the season.
