THOUSAND OAKS, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Lacrosse team extended its winning streak to four games with its 24-4 win over SCIAC opponent Cal Lutheran on Saturday afternoon at William Rolland Stadium.
The Sagehens were led by
Maria Favret who netted four goals in the win.
Fiona Lewis and
Taylor Glanville also netted a hat-trick with three while
Madelyn Katz,
Sydney Landauer,
Caili Cross, and
Ella Bradley had two with
Chloe Denhart,
Joella Linder,
Zaina Sayeed,
Caroline Welch,
Shoshi Henderson and
River Buechner had one.
Cross opened the game with a goal from Pomona-Pitzer but the Regals came right back to tie the game at 1-1. The Sagehens then went on to score seven unanswered to end the first as Landauer, Welch, Glanville, and Lewis filled the stat sheet to take an 8-1 lead into the second.
The defense shut out Cal Lutheran in the second quarter while the offense went on to have their best scoring quarter of the day with nine goals. Henderson and Landauer got the scoring going while Buechner, Favret, Lewis, Katz, Bradley, Glanville and Cross ended the first half to put Pomona-Pitzer up big at 17-1 heading into halftime.
A much calmer scoring half for the Sagehens after adding 17 in the first two quarters. Denahrt started the second half with a goal before Cal Lutheran broke the goal streak at 17 to make it 18-2. Katz and Sayeed scored to end the third with the Sagehens up 20-2.
Pomona-Pitzer coasted in the fourth but still managed to add four more goals from Bradley and Favret as the Sagehens continued to stay perfect on the year.
