CLAREMONT, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Basketball team came away with a lopsided 75-42 victory over SCIAC opponent Caltech on Wednesday night at Voelkel Gymnasium.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improved to 11-9 overall and 6-5 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens had three players in double digits with
Emily Lee and
Kayla Malek leading the way with 15 points each and
Jadyn Lee coming in just under with 14 in the win.
Pomona-Pitzer controlled the game from start to finish in their most dominant win of the season. The Sagehens shot at 41.2% from the field while hitting on 34.8% of their threes while holding Caltech to just 28.6% from the floor and 0-16 from beyond the arc.
Pomona-Pitzer got the lead early and never gave it back to the Beavers after finishing a tight first quarter up 18-14. The Sagehens got their lead above 10 points at 26-16 with 6:16 to play in the first half and extended that lead to just under 20 points up 41-22 at halftime.
Pomona-Pitzer continued to pour it on Caltech in the third outscoring the Beavers 20-10 and took a sizeable 61-32 lead heading into the fourth.
With the game already in hand, Pomona-Pitzer took their foot off of the gas but still managed to win the fourth 14-10 as the Sagehens got back in the win column in the SCIAC with a win in their first meeting of the season against Caltech.
