CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer men's basketball cruised to an 82-53 win over Caltech Wednesday night at Voelkel Gymnasium in its conference opener.
Season Impact: The win puts the Sagehens at 4-2 on the season, including 1-0 in SCIAC play.
Five different Sagehens reached double figures in scoring, led by a team-high 16 points from
Kyle Jasper.
Charlie Hutchison had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds while
Bryson Bryker scored 12 and
Cooper Bladow had 11.
Darius Turner had nine boards and three points while
Clyde Rosenberg had 10 points and seven rebounds.
Caltech kept things close through the first 10 minutes, before Turner scored in the paint and
Charlie Treene registered a fast break dunk to put the Sagehens up 19-12. Jasper knocked down all five of his three-pointers in the first half, with his fifth putting Pomona-Pitzer up 39-23. Hutchison scored in the paint late as the Sagehens led 43-23 at the half.
Bryker pushed Pomona-Pitzer's lead, 57-34, with a fast break lay-in seven minutes into the second half.
Matthew Diekmann hit a jumper to later put the Sagehens up 65-37.
Reagan Cornish, Rosenberg and Bladow scored down the stretch as Pomona-Pitzer cruised to an 82-53 victory.
