CLAREMONT, Calif. —
Emily Lee scored a career-high 26 points as Pomona-Pitzer women's basketball cruised to a 76-29 victory over Illinois Tech Sunday afternoon at Voelkel Gymnasium.
Season Impact: The win puts the Sagehens at 5-4 on the season, including 1-1 in SCIAC play.
E. Lee reached 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting, including 6-of-11 from deep, to go with five boards and three steals.
Ali Bennett scored 10 points and
Sara Chicco had eight, while
Abigail Homan,
Sofia Robel,
Kellie Au and
Avery Patricco each had six. The Sagehens shot 45.6% from the floor and 38.7% from three while holding the Scarlet Hawks to 22.7% shooting.
With the game tied at 6-6 six minutes into the game, Pomona-Pitzer scored 13 unanswered to end the first quarter. E. Lee, J. Lee and Patricco traded baskets in the run. The Sagehens then scored 14 more unanswered points to start the second period, with E. Lee knocking down a triple to give the team a 33-6 advantage. E. Lee hit two more triples as Pomona-Pitzer took a 39-12 lead into the locker room.
The Sagehens continued to cruise in the third quarter, with Au hitting a pair of threes near the end of the period. E. Lee scored a lay-in just before the third quarter buzzer, putting Pomona-Pitzer up 57-20. Bennett, Robel, Joko and E. Lee traded baskets midway through the fourth to give the Sagehens a 70-25 lead. Bennett and Chicco each hit a three late as Pomona-Pitzer came away with the 76-29 victory.
