Sagehens Fall To Cal Lutheran In SCIAC Tournament Championship, 1-2

CLAREMONT, CA – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Soccer Team fell 1-2 to Cal Lutheran in the SCIAC Tournament championship game on Saturday afternoon.

Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens close out their season 14-1-3 overall. They now await the NCAA selection show on Monday.

The Sagehens found an early lead when forward Imogen Roy Jenkyn secured the first goal of the game at the 18' minute mark. The Cal Lutheran offenses managed to break through right away and tied the score 1-1. Pomona-Pitzer pushed to reclaim their lead with a shot from Hannah Hong at the 24' minute mark, but the opposing goalkeeper blocked her attempt. After another goal from Cal Lutheran left the Sagehens trailing, Anjali Nuggehalli then attempted to catch up with a shot at the 44'minute mark, but the attempt missed wide left. The Sagehens entered halftime trailing Cal Lutheran 1-2.

Pomona-Pitzer continued playing strong into the second half. The Sagehens attempted to break through the opposing defenses with several shots at the goal. Notably, Kendrick Dahlin, Sabina Peterson Rajalingam, and Imogen Roy Jenkyn, each shot at the goal at the 50', 55', and 56' minute marks, but were stopped by the opposing defenses. The Sagehens were unable to find their lead as they fell 1-2 to Cal Lutheran.
