CLAREMONT, Calif. — Pomona-Pitzer women's basketball defeated Whitworth 59-52 Saturday afternoon at Voelkel Gymnasium.
Season Impact: The win puts the Sagehens at 3-1 on the season.
Avery Patricco led Pomona-Pitzer with 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting to go with three assists.
Jadyn Lee added 15 points, eight rebounds and six assists while
Abigail Homan had 14 points and five boards.
Teams traded baskets in the first quarter, with
Kayla Malek finding J. Lee for a three before J. Lee scored in the paint to put the Sagehens ahead 11-9. Homan scored a layup and a three to start the second quarter and give Pomona-Pitzer a 16-13 lead.

Katie Drais and Homan each scored lay-ins as the Sagehens led 31-23 at the half.
The Pirates fought back to take a 39-33 lead in the third, but a Homan layup and Patricco triple brought the Sagehens back within one. J. Lee then scored in the paint off a Homan assist, and E. Lee closed the quarter with a three-point play, giving Pomona-Pitzer a 47-39 advantage and capping a 14-0 run.
In the fourth, Whitworth came back within three, 55-52, before
Kellie Au found Patricco for a lay-in with under a minute to go. J. Lee knocked down a pair of free throws in the final seconds as Pomona-Pitzer came away with the 59-52 win.
