CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Pomona-Pitzer men's water polo team earned a 12-8 SCIAC win over La Verne Saturday before falling 15-11 in an exhibition to Golden West College.
Season Impact: With the over the Leopards, the Sagehens continue their season at 15-12 overall and 9-0 in SCIAC play.
Pomona-Pitzer 12, La Verne 8
The Sagehens were led by
Indigo Lee,
Chase Barman,
Logan Colman, and
Jaden Winters who each netted two goals throughout the game.
Jake Lee,
Darragh Flanders,
Ryan Kreutzkamp, and
Conrad Hugar each scored one goal.
Pomona-Pitzer started off playing well against the Leopards with four first half goals. La Verne struck first, but Winters attempted to catch up with netting a penalty goal with 4:46 left on the clock. The Sagehens persisted to push through the opposing defenses with three more goals from Hugar, Kreutzkamp, and Winters. Notably, Kreutzkamp scored a goal during a powerplay with 1:04 left on the clock to bring Pomona-Pitzer ahead 3-2. Despite La Verne breaking through the Sagehen defenses again in the last minutes of the game, Pomona-Pitzer concluded the first half leading 4-3. While both teams had assorted opportunities to shoot, neither team was able to convert or score further. The score remained static as the Sagehens entered halftime ahead 4-3.
Pomona-Pitzer continued to play strong going into the second half as they earned eight more goals in the third and fourth quarters. Barman started the scoring in the second half by netting a goal with 7:35 left on the clock. The Sagehens continued charging past the La Verne defenses with Barman, Lee, Lee, and Flanders scoring four more goals further the lead. Notably, Flanders netted a goal during a powerplay with 0:29 left on the clock to bring Pomona-9-4 as the third quarter ended.
Pomona-Pitzer continued their effort in the fourth quarter by scoring three more goals from Lee and Colman to widen the lead. Notably, Colman netted a goal on a penalty shot and one during a powerplay with 3:58 and 2:58 left on the clock, respectively. The Sagehens brought competitive energy throughout the game and did not let up to secure their 12-8 victory over La Verne.

The Sagehens were led by
Logan Colman who secured a hattrick by netting three goals throughout the game.
Jaden Winters also had a multigoal game and scored two while
Indigo Lee,
Darragh Flanders,
Conrad Hugar,
Harrison Siegel,
Tommy Ryan, and
Alex Erickson each netted one goal.
Pomona-Pitzer started playing well with seven goals in the first half. Winters started the scoring in the game by netting a goal with 7:11 left on the clock. The Rustlers soon broke through the Sagehen defenses, but Pomona-Pitzer swiftly responded to catch up. Flanders managed to score a goal with 3:29 left on the clock to tie the score 2-2. However, the opposing offense continued to break through the Sagehen defenses. Pomona-Pitzer concluded the first quarter trailing behind Golden West 2-3. Golden West attempted to widen the lead, but Hugar and Lee responded by netting goals with 7:28 and 4:21 left on the clock, respectively. The scoring went back and forth from both sides, and Colman scored two more while Erickson secured one more goal for the Sagehens. However, the Golden West lead remained, and the Sagehens entered halftime trailing behind 9-11.
The Sagehens continued to bring passionate energy through the second half and secured 4 goals in the third and fourth quarters. Winters started the scoring in the second half and found the back of the net with a goal with 6:40 left on the clock. Colman followed and netted a goal with 1:33 left on the clock. The Sagehens concluded the third quarter still behind Golden West 7-12.
The Sagehens fought back as they entered the fourth quarter. Siegel attempted to catch up Pomona-Pitzer by securing a penalty goal with 6:59 left on the clock. The Golden West offense continued to pressure the Sagehen defenses and widened the lead, but Ryan responded by netting a goal with 4:31 left on the clock. Despite the strong effort, Pomona-Pitzer still fell to Golden West in their second game of the day 11-15.
