REDLANDS, CA – The Sagehens earned a 2–0 shutout victory in their game against Redlands on Wednesday evening.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens continue their season 8-0-2 overall and 4-0-2 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens put up a strong effort in the first half. The Sagehens worked hard to formulate several opportunities to score and found their early lead. Forward Hannah Hong started the scoring for this game with her sixth goal of the season at the 5' minute mark and set Pomona-Pitzer ahead 1-0. The Sagehens continued to bring the energy throughout the half with several attempts at the goal. Notably, Ava Watanabe, Taylor Marshall, Imogen Jenkyn, and Kendrick Dahlin each attempted to shoot on the goal, but they were all stopped by the Redlands defenses. The Sagehen defense also remained sturdy as the they did not allow Redlands to score. Due to strong efforts from all sides, Pomona-Pitzer entered halftime with the lead of 1-0.
The Sagehens continued to bring the energy into the second half. Pomona-Pitzer created several opportunities to score on the Redlands goal. After attempts at the goal from Tara Kamshad and Brooke Bailey, Peterson Rajalingam broke through the Redlands defenses and scored a goal at the 54' minute mark, furthering the Pomona-Pitzer lead to 2-0. The Sagehen defense remained strong as goalkeeper Hadley Johnson saved an attempted goal from Redlands at the 71' minute mark. Pomona-Pitzer maintained their lead through the end of the game and defeated Redlands with a 2-0 victory.
