LA VERNE, Calif. — The Pomona-Pitzer Football team continued its strong start to the 2025 campaign, improving to 3–1 overall and 2–0 in SCIAC play after a commanding 34–12 victory over La Verne on Saturday afternoon at Ortmayer Stadium.
Quarterback Luke Levitt led the charge for the Sagehens, completing 21 of 24 passes for 222 yards and three touchdowns while adding 52 rushing yards on 10 carries. Levitt's steady play helped the offense find its rhythm after an early deficit. Jack Sobota was his top target, hauling in 62 yards and two touchdowns, while Brennan Dragomer added 61 receiving yards and 38 yards on the ground.
The Sagehen defense turned in another standout performance, holding the Leopards scoreless in the second half. Jacob Whiting anchored the unit with nine tackles and 0.5 sacks, while Alden Kling, Alexander Rustay, Samuel Wyatt, Eliott Graziano, and Danner Lim all contributed sacks. Kalani Pickett made a major impact in the secondary, recording two interceptions to stall La Verne drives.
Despite La Verne jumping ahead 6–0 early, the Sagehens' special teams quickly responded as Duncan Lee returned a blocked extra point 98 yards for two points. The Leopards capitalized on a Pomona-Pitzer fumble moments later to push their lead to 12–2, but the Sagehens found their groove in the second quarter.
A Jack Walker field goal cut the deficit to 12–5 before Levitt connected with Sobota on a 19-yard touchdown pass to tie the game. Jack Susank then powered in a short rushing touchdown to send Pomona-Pitzer into halftime up 19–12.
The Sagehens controlled the game the rest of the way. Walker added a second field goal from 19 yards out, and Levitt threw two more touchdown passes—one to Nicholas Buchenau and another to Sobota—to seal a dominant second-half shutout.
