Roy Jenkyn Leads Sagehens In 1-0 Shutout Victory Over Occidental

LOS ANGELES, CA – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Soccer Team achieved a shutout victory over Occidental with a 1-0 win on Saturday evening.

Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens continue their season strong 12-0-3 overall and 8-0-3 in SCIAC play.

The Sagehens pushed back against the Occidental defenses and formulated several opportunities to score. Notably, forwards Imogen Roy Jenkyn, Brooke Bailey, and Hannah Hong each attempted to break through the Tigers defenses at the 3', 3', and 5' minute marks, but were each stopped by the opposing goalkeeper. Imogen Jenkyn then proceeded to hit her mark and netted a goal at the 19' minute mark to bring Pomona-Pitzer ahead. The Sagehens maintained their lead through the end of the period and ended the competitive first half 1-0.

Pomona-Pitzer continued to bring the heat into the second half. Hannah Hong, Imogen Jenkyn, Brooke Bailey, and Taylor Marshall each attempted to break past the Occidental defenses at the 59', 62', 66', and 68' minute marks but were each stopped by the Tigers goalkeeper. The Sagehen defenses also remained strong as goalkeeper Hadley Johnson saved two attempted goals from the opposing offense at the 85' and 86' minute marks. The Pomona-Pitzer lead remained steady through the end of the end of the game, and the Sagehens defeated Occidental with a 1-0 win.
