Sagehens Fall To Occidental 2-1 On Senior Day

CLAREMONT, CA. - The Sagehens fell on senior day to Occidental 2-1 in a tightly contested match.

Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens drop to 8-4-3 overall and 4-4-2 in SCIAC play.

The Sagehens started strong, applying consistent pressure early in the first half. Niclas Ulrich and Aidan MacLennan each registered early shot attempts. Occidental struck first in the 20th minute to take a 1–0 lead, but the Sagehens quickly responded. In the 39th minute, Charles Leonard found the equalizer off a setup from Townes Richardson, leveling the match 1–1 heading into halftime.

The second half remained evenly matched, with both sides trading possession and chances. Kieran Veloria nearly put the Sagehens ahead in the 47th minute with a curling shot that missed just high. Goalkeeper Jasper Broad made several key stops after entering the match, keeping the Sagehens within striking distance. Pomona-Pitzer's offense continued to generate opportunities late, however the Tigers capitalized on a counterattack moments later, regaining the lead in the 82nd minute. Despite a final push that included a late corner kick and multiple entries into the box, the Sagehens couldn't find the equalizer before the final whistle.
