LA VERNE, CA.- The Sagehens earned a 2-1 road win over La Verne on Wednesday night, powered by first-half goals from Aidan MacLennan and Niclas Ulrich.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improve to 8-2-3 overall and 4-2-2 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens struck early and dictated the tempo from the opening whistle. In the 6th minute, Aidan MacLennan put Pomona-Pitzer ahead 1-0. The Sagehens continued to threaten, and in the 33rd minute, Niclas Ulrich doubled the lead to make it 2-0. Goalkeeper Jasper Broad anchored the defense in the first half, making several key stops to preserve the lead including a crucial save in the 18th. In the second half, the Leopards pulled one back in the 71st minute, but the Sagehens stayed organized defensively to close out the match. Broad finished with four saves, while Pomona-Pitzer continued to press forward through late chances from MacLennan, Seb Lee Jara, and Kieran Veloria.
