ORANGE, CA.- The Sagehens battled but fell 1-0 to Chapman on Saturday night on the road.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens are now 7-2-3 overall and 3-2-2 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens looked sharp from the opening whistle, generating early chances and forcing Chapman's back line to defend deep. In the 12th minute, Seb Lee Jara broke through and fired a shot toward the bottom left corner, forcing a team save from the Panther defense. Moments later, in the 17th minute, Alex Greenstein ripped a strike to the top left that was turned away by Chapman's goalkeeper. The Sagehens continued to threaten with pressure. Guy Fuchs had two good looks from range in the 18th and 33rd minutes, both narrowly missing the frame. The Sagehens' closest first-half chance came in the 39th minute, when Aidan MacLennan found space just outside the box and struck the crossbar before seeing his follow-up shot saved moments later. Goalkeeper Jasper Broad anchored the Sagehens defensively, recording multiple key saves in the opening 10 minutes. The score going into halftime was 0-0.
The Panthers struck first in the 53rd minute to take a 1–0 lead. Kieran Veloria nearly leveled the score in the 57th minute, forcing a low save from Glynn. Sammy Faham and Lee Jara each followed with near-misses. The Sagehens continued to test the Chapman keeper late. MacLennan had four second-half shots, including strong attempts in the 72nd, 85th, and 86th minutes, all of which were saved or deflected. Veloria added another dangerous strike in the 82nd minute, but the Sagehens couldn't find the equalizer before the final whistle.
