ORANGE, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Soccer team fell to SCIAC opponent Chapman 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at Wilson Field.
Season Impact: With the loss, the Sagehens suffer their first conference loss of the season and fall to 6-1-2 overall and 2-1-1 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens outshot their opponents 14-11 and had six shots on goal to Chapman's five. Goalkeeper
Patricia DePalma came away with four saves in the loss while the Sagehens only had one corner in the game and the Panthers with four.
Pomona-Pitzer did a good job controlling the ball against the Panthers but had trouble coming away with big chances to take the lead. Chapman played good defense at home trying to preserve a scoreless game as long as possible and went into halftime tied at 0-0.
The Panthers found their game-winning goal off of a corner set piece with a head in the box that was able to beat DePalma to take a 1-0 lead in the 68
th minute.
The Sagehens tried to rally late in the game, but the Panthers packed the box late and hung on for the upset against the No. 8 ranked Sagehens.
