CLAREMONT, CA. – The No. 8 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Soccer team continued their unbeaten season with a 2-0 win against SCIAC opponent Occidental College on Wednesday afternoon at the Pomona-Pitzer Soccer Field.
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improved to 6-0-2 overall and 2-0-1 in SCIAC play.
The Sagehens were led by
Eliana Prosnitz and
Isla Burch who each netted a goal in the win. Prosnitz added an assist as well to her name while
Ella Endo ended up with an assist off of Prosnit's goal.
Patricia DePalma earned the win and another shutout to her name with two saves for her fifth shutout of the season.
Pomona-Pitzer categorically dominated Occidental in tonight's contest with the Sagehens outshooting the Tigers 18-2 with eight shots on goal. The Sagehens also added three corner kicks while the Sagehen defense only allowed two shots and 0 corners.
The offense came early for the Sagehens after they scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of the match with both goals about one minute apart. Prosnitz got the scoring started in the ninth minute after a flick on by Endo allowed Prosnitz to set up her shot and curled in a shot to the far post to beat the keeper and put the Sagehens on top at home.
Burch followed up with her goal just about a minute after the restart as Prosnitz played Burch in and then after making two Tiger defenders collide, Burch slotted home the second goal of the night to put the Sagehens up 2-0 in the first half.
Pomona-Pitzer controlled the game from start to finish and even had a few more opportunities to add goals to their total. The defense once again showed up and made life easy for DePalma in goal as the Sagehens were unbothered in their 2-0 win over Occidental.
