Sagehens Net Three In Win Over Beavers

PASADENA, CA. – The No. 10 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Soccer team came away with their first SCIAC win of the season with a 3-0 win over Caltech on Saturday morning at Caltech North Field.
 
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improved to 5-0-2 overall and start SCIAC play 1-0-1.
 
The Sagehens had three different goal scorers in the win. Spencer Deutz scored in her second consecutive game while Ella Adams netted her first collegiate goal and Kendrick Dahlin added a goal as well in the win.  Maxine Davey and Rae Kamikawa added assists for the Sagehens wihile Patricia DePalma earned the win in goal.
 
 
The Sagehens dominated possession against the Beavers but Caltech did a good job limiting the Sagehens' scoring chances in the first half and despite the Sagehens firing off 12 shots, Pomona-Pitzer and Caltech went into halftime tied at 0-0.
 
The Sagehens got the scoring going in the second half off of a bit of good fortune. Deutz pressing high up the field was able to make a good challenged in the Beavers' defensive third and nicely timed challenged ended up putting the ball into the back of the net for the first goal of the game in the 51st minute.
 
The Sagehens doubled their lead in the 31st minute after Adams took a touch in the box and turned and fired a strike towards the top of the goal to beat the keeper and give the Sagehens a 2-0 lead.
 
Pomona-Pitzer sealed the game with their final goal of the contest in the 85th minute after Kamikawa fed Dahlin into the box and beat the keeper as the Sagehens got back on track with a road win over Caltech.
