CLAREMONT, CA. -- The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Water Polo cruised to a 19-5 win over SCIAC opponent Chapman on Wednesday night at Haldeman Pool.

Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improved to 16-10 overall and stayed perfect at 8-0 in SCIAC play.

The Sagehens were led by the dup of
Kaylee Stigar and
Ayva Magna who each netted a hat-trick in the win.
Namlhun Jachung, Lisbon Ziegler, and
Paityn Richardson had two while
Abigail Wiesenthal,
Mia Amberger,
Harper Casey-Housand,
Bella McGowan,
Natalie Sullivan Wu,
Lulu Gaither, and
Lauren Valentin had one.

Zosia Amberger got the start in the cage and picked up the win with 12 saves in 24 minutes of play while
Thea Pine had four saves in the fourth quarter for the Sagehens.

The Sagehens had a slow start to their big offensive night but got rolling as the game went on. Wiesenthal started the game with a goal followed by Magna and Jachung to jump out to a 3-0 lead before the Panthers scored their first goal of the night. Pomona-Pitzer went on to end the first with a goal from Gaither to take a 4-1 lead into the second.

Richardson opened the second quarter with a goal to extend the lead to 5-1, but Chapman answered with back-to-back goals to cut the lead down to two at 5-3. Stigar and Zeigler came back with goals for the Sagehens to end the first half to take an 8-3 lead into halftime.

The Sagehens added four more goals to their total in the third quarter from Stigar, McGowan, Magna, and Amberger with the defense holding the Panthers to just one goal to take a commanding 12-4 lead into the fourth. Â

Despite their large advantage, the Sagehens had their highest-scoring quarter of the night in the fourth with seven goals. Magna, Amberger, and Sullivan Wu netted goals early in the quarter to take a 16-4 lead while Valentin, Casey-Housand, and Richardson closed the night out for the Sagehens in their dominant win over Chapman.
