CLAREMONT, CA. – The No. 2 Pomona-Pitzer Women's Tennis team came away with a quick 9-0 win over Whittier College on Saturday afternoon at the Pauley Tennis Complex.
Season Impact: with the win, the Sagehens improved to 15-4 overall and 5-0 in SCIAC play.
A quick day at the office for the Sagehens in their SCIAC match with the Poets as they came away with a clean sweep in both doubles and singles play. Angie Zhou and Marissa Markey took a win at No. 1 doubles 8-1 while Rachel Homan and Wni Lindholm came away with an 8-1 win as well at the No. 3 doubles. Nyakiriri Kanefu and Samantha Moore-Thomson finished off doubles with an 8-2 win to take a 3-0 lead into singles play.
Pomona-Pitzer went through all six singles matches losing just one game total. The only lost game came at the No. 1 spot as Zhou could only win by the scores of 6-1, 6-0. The rest of the Sagehen lineup went through unscathed as every other Pomona-Pitzer player won their match by the scores of 6-0, 6-0.
