Sagehens Take Road Win Over Cal Lutheran

 THOUSAND, OAKS, CA. – The Pomona-Pitzer Women's Water Polo team took a road win over SCIAC foe Cal Lutheran 19-7 on Wednesday afternoon at the Samuelson Aquatics Center.
 
Season Impact: With the win, the Sagehens improved to 18-10 overall and stayed perfect at 10-0 in SCIAC play.
 
The Sagehens were led by Brienz Lang who netted a hat-trick with a game-high four goals in the win. Lulu Gaither also earned a hat-trick with three goals while Abigail Wiesenthal, Ayva Magna, Gabby Lewis, and Namlhun Jachung had multi-goals games with two each. Mia Amberger, Bella McGowan, Lisbon Zeigler, and Paityn Richardson all earned one goal as well in the win.
 
Zosia Amberger got the start and the win with five saves while Thea Pine played the fourth quarter with two saves and two steals.
 
The Sagehens got out to a big start in the first quarter with a game-high seven goals in the first quarter to build their lead. Wiesenthal netted the first goal of the game on the Sagehens' first possession and then goals from Lang, Jachung, and Gaither grew the lead to 4-0. Cal Lutheran responded with their first goal of the game before the Sagehens added three more from Jachung, Amberger and Lewis to make it 7-1.  The Regals ended the first quarter with a goal but the Sagehens still head a large lead at 7-2 heading into the second quarter.
 
The Sagehen defense shutout the Regals in the second quarter while the offense continued to build a first half lead with four more goals. Gaither netted the first two goals of the quarter while Lang and Zeigler added goals to put the Sagehens up 11-2 heading into halftime.
 
Cal Lutheran came out of halftime and scored the first two goals of the second half before Lang completed her hat-trick to make it 12-4 with 5:09 left in the third. CLU scored their third goal of the quarter to cut the lead down to 12-5, but the Sagehens ended the third with goals from Wiesenthal, Magna, Lewis and Lang to take a 16-5 lead into the fourth.
 
With the game already locked up for the Sagehens, they went on to add three more goals from Richardson, McGowan and Magna as the Sagehens continued their unbeaten streak in SCIAC play.
